Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
Why do people have to be this lonely? What’s the point of it all? Millions of people in this world, all of them yearning, looking to others to satisfy them, yet isolating themselves. Why? Was the earth put here just to nourish human loneliness?
Anyone who falls in love is searching for the missing pieces of themselves. So anyone who’s in love gets sad when they think of their lover. It’s like stepping back inside a room you have fond memories of, one you haven’t seen in a long time.

Thoughts on the recent calamity

Haiyan. A name the whole world won’t be forgetting for a long time.

Just last Friday, the Philippines was hit by strongest typhoon in the last century. Lives were lost, homes were wrecked, survivors are still continuously trying to survive. I myself can even barely watch the news. I still haven’t watched the news since Thursday last week. I can’t bare seeing those people suffer. I can’t even begin to imagine what they have gone through and what they’re still going through right now. I still can’t even decide what to feel about the whole situation. At times like this, feeling for the people affected can never measure to providing ways to help – no matter how minute it might be.

So anyway, as I was buying a couple of goods awhile ago to donate to typhoon victims, I can’t help but brood over the whole situation. Being a full-time student, I can’t help but feel guilt and helplessness at the small amount I am able to give. I want to give more but my student budget won’t permit me to. I’m planning to skip a couple of lunches to save money but it still won’t be enough to provide for all the people in need right now. But then it hit me, the amount of these goods and monetary aid I’d be able to provide will never be enough and provision of all the needs of all the people is not the main point of this all, it is about collective effort.

Imagine the magnitude if all of us would provide aid – in whatever form, no matter how minute. Even people from other nations are doing their part. What’s stopping us, Filipinos from helping out our fellow countrymen? There are a lot of NGO’s and agencies that are organizing relief operations for the victims.

Here are a couple of organizations that you guys can contact to help. Let’s help. Let’s give. Let’s provide.
