Self-preservation

With him, it wasn’t just about “wanting” out,

but more so, needing to be.

I was becoming a person I didn’t want to become,

and I knew, I just knew,

that at that point, our chapter’s done.

I needed to end it or else, all my light will get consumed

and there will be no turning back.
